Beautiful Jangojips drew this picture of me as a mermaid and it cheered me up immensely. This is basically my dream hair, here.

I’ve been doing a lot of work for anthologies lately and making the transition from “self-employed webcomic artist” to “freelance cartoonist working for publishers.” This is fantastic for many reasons: my work will be read by a lot of new people when they buy these books, I can actually pay my bills by cartooning for a little while, I’ll actually get to travel to talk about the larger projects I’m doing that have publisher support, other things…
But it also means that I’m frequently creating work that I can’t post online until after the project has been announced or until the book has been available for purchase for six months. It means I’m drawing a lot of work that I’m proud of that I can’t show anyone. And having grown up as a late-90’s webcomic artist (where everything I ever drew was immediately queued up online and I received feedback fairly quickly) this transition sometimes drives me a bit nuts.
I’m learning how to deal as I go but I had to doodle this to get it out of my system today. (After spending 8 hours on things I can’t show anyone. Ugh.)
As someone who grew up online in the same time period and also made a similar transition, I thought my buddy Megan Rose Gedris would sympathize with my plight.

This is the story of my life. I have soooooooooo many pages of comics right now that you guys can’t even see and it drives me insane. INSANE! Meanwhile I feel like an unproductive lump who hasn’t posted anything online in forever.

I decided to take a step away from the characters to do a bust I’d been meaning to do for a while. Some time back Rosalarian had set out the task of people drawing her. And who DOESN’T want to draw a technicolour mermaid :O (plus her glasses always make me think of a superhero/villain mask).
Still catching up on my Drawing Decembers, but this’ll be the last one for tonight.
And for those of you who don’t know, Miss Megan is the creator of such wonderful webcomics such as I Was Kidnapped By Lesbian Pirates From Outer Space and what started me on her stuff years ago, Yu+Me: dream

I miss having purple haaaaair this is beautiful thank you

Okay, so, first off: I hope this isn’t offensive in any way. I was just trying to be as silly as possible.
This was the result of me desperately trying to break a months-long artist’s block. And despite it looking like crap, it makes me laugh every time I see it. So I call it a win. XD
I also call it Super Rosalarian Bros.! Wheeee~

I wish every time I smashed my head against a box cheese would come out. I love this so much.

At the risk of seeming like a stalker I drew Rosalarian. oTL

Not a stalker at all! I’m trying to figure out if that’s a Sailor-Moon-esque crescent moon on my forehead or if it’s that one chunk of hair that’s always longer than the rest of my bangs, because both happen to me all the time.
I wanna color this like a coloring book, crayon style on the floor while drinking juice.

Friday morning physics class wasn’t doing it for me, so I decided to doodle three of my favorite internet ladies. Angelina, Kate, and Megan are all SUPER AWESOME ARTISTS and I look up to them quite a lot. I urge you to check out their blogs (and in the case of Kate and Megan, their webcomics)

I totally AM the mage of roses! Yes!!! Girls let’s all go fight some orcs or something!

I’m sort of graduating in two weeks and have my first exhibition next week, so I was a little too busy to submit this before. I hope you like it. Also, if you like, I can send it to you.
Happy “Two Weeks After Draw Rosalarian Day Day”.
I really loved working on this piece, which includes crayon, gouache, acrylics, and lots of GLITTER!!!
(Megan: Oh my GOD!!! This is so amazing. I can’t even properly express how cool this is. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS!!!)
