Winter is finally loosing its icy grip, which means it’s time to heat things up with one of Toronto’s best March traditions. Come celebrate the turning of the seasons as well as the best ass east of the Don River.
Helen of Tronna may be a new name, but you can expect the same kind of saucy antics at this birthday show that you’ve come to love over the past five years. Join us Sunday, 16th of March at the Lula Lounge (1585 Dundas W, just west of Dufferin) for a night of bands, bells, booze and burlesque!
Featuring burlesque performances from:
Loretta Jean (Nerd Girl Burlesque)
Delicia Pastiche (Nerd Girl Burlesque)
Bianca Boom Boom
With the Canadian debut of
Florence of A’Labia (Super Happy Funtime Burlesque)
Gala Delicious (Tickled Fancy Burlesque)
Plus feats of mentalism from Mysterion the Mind-Reader
High Heels Lo Fi
Pavlov’s Dogs Handbell Ensemble
Hosted by yours truly!
Tickets are $20 at the door, or $15 in advance at Brown Paper Tickets. And, because I love ya so much, Tumblr, you can get an extra $3 off advance tickets by using the passcode “MITTENS” (in honour of our guests from that place what looks like a mitten).
Doors open at 8, and we’ll be kicking things off at 9. Come buy me a drink and see what happens!

You guys!!! Look where I’m gonna be very soon! Toronto people, please come see us. And then I can be know as an international burlesque star.
I won’t be at TCAF this year, but Toronto fans can come see me do burlesque on the 16th of this month. I’ll bring some comics along.
Feminism is having a wardrobe malfunction.
Does your brand of feminism remove barriers for women, or simply move them around? Does is expand options for women, or does it just shift them? You don’t liberate women by forcing them to choose option B instead of option A. What is comfortable for you might not be comfortable for someone else, and it’s entirely possible that what you see as oppressive, other women find comfortable or even downright liberating.
Before you think the girl in the middle is a strawman, let me tell you I used to be her, back in my misguided youth. I considered myself the standard to which other people should adhere. But that was stupid. It’s not up to me to tell people how to dress, and it’s much nicer to let everyone choose for themselves.
Some women would feel naked without a veil. Some women would find it restrictive. Some women would feel restricted by a bra. Some women would feel naked without one. Some women would feel restricted by a tight corset. Others love them. Some wear lots of clothes with a corset. Some only wear the corset and nothing else. What makes any article of clothing oppressive is someone forcing you to wear it. And it’s just as oppressive to force someone not to wear something that they want to wear.
I’m back on tour, which means more Comic Stripper pages! Full tour schedule here. I have two mini comics, one of which is brand spanking new, and of course my smutty mermaid graphic novel.

I’m not going to be around much for the next couple weeks, since I’ll be spreading joy to Floridians while trying to figure out how to actually steal sunshine. (Perhaps a review of Len’s discography is in order.)
But I’ll be running tour diary comics on my burlesque tumblr on every day that we have a show! They were drawn a while ago, from a tour we did almost a year ago. I have about 250 pages worth of these comics sketched, and making more all the time.
I promise you there’s nothing better you could be doing this weekend than coming to our show called “Ass Tits Brains and Vagina!” We have been working hard on the new show and we’re really proud of it. It’s gotten kind of weird lately. You really haven’t seen anything like this. 3 hours of entertainment for $10? That is a fucking steal.
So many fantastic songs from this live band. You like over the top showtunes? We got showtunes. You like prog rock? We got prog rock. You like disco? We got disco. You like Tom Waits? We got
Tom Waits the actual man a song inspired by Tom Waits. You like rap? Mr Happy Pants pretends he knows what he’s doing with a Beastie Boys cover. And more.

Please come to our show! It’s gonna be good and we wanna kick our new tour off right. It’s worth leaving the house, I promise. We’ll warm you up real good.
This February, I’m putting the Flo in Florida as the Super Happy Funliner 1000 makes a trek out of Michigan for sunnier skies! We’ve never been to Florida before, so spread the word and tell your friends. It’s part burlesque, part rock show, part musical theatre, part circus. You will be entertained!

Super Happy Funtime Burlesque CD & DVD giveaway
Soooooooo many of you have come to my shows over the past year, and I love getting to meet all of you and perform for you. But a lot of you haven’t been able to come, due to location or time or money or whatever. So I’m gonna do the next best thing. We have some very high quality CDs and DVDs of our most recent show, performed at Bell’s in Kalamazoo and recorded professionally. These are really nice, and more or less give you the show you missed out on.
I’ll give away a CD to someone, and a DVD to another person. Both come with a set of handmade pasties! Rules:
- You must be 18 (due to the nsfw content)
- You must reblog this
- Following Super Happy Funtime’s tumblr gets you a second entry
- Contest period is through November 15th, 2013
It’s still best to see it in person. (We’ll be in Dubuque, Eau Claire, Kzoo, Des Moines, Sioux Falls, Fargo, Indianapolis, and Chicago this coming month! Locations here.) But getting recordings is the next best thing.
This show contains: a magical girl sci fi power ranger spoof, vagina sparks, puppet sex, drug induced hallucinations, a cow, an elephant, a lobster, a shark, two fish, more lesbianism than you can shake a stick at, jizzin’ Jesus, and I think this recording has the JFK assassination skit. And that’s not even all of it.
In short, we are terrible naked people and we hope you like our show.

These are shaping up to be some extra badass gigs for my burlesque troupe (superhappyfuntimeburlesque.com) so you should come because I love meeting you guys.
Andy’s Bar in Denton tonight (10/9)
Spider House Ballroom in Austin on Thursday (10/10)
Bash Riprocks 2 in Lubbock on Friday (10/11)
Singing, dancing, comedy, live band, nearly naked people, drag king Jesus, glitter, mermaids, a cow, a puppet, thrills chills and spills. Pass it on to all your friends in Texas! It’s worth the drive.
Also, funny story, an old lady in a gas station asked us if we were a traveling ministry for the deaf. We are not, we told her. We are not.
So, I am trying to convince the Super Happy Funtime overlords to take our burlesque show to some conventions. Geeks and burlesque are like cheese and crackers. Does anyone have some suggestions for cons we should check out? Not just good cons, but cons where a raunchy punk rock cabaret and circus would fit in? I really want to do this. Gimme suggestions!
Our dressing room last night was a shed behind the bar. Life is truly so glamorous for a traveling burlesque performer. Pass the tetanus shots please. #burlesque #tourlife
If you’re from Tuscon, AZ or close by
Please get in touch with me. Our burlesque show is going there, and we need help. Can you provide it in exchange for free tickets?
