On movie stars and gangsters of the past
They do not look as flattering on your head, or on mine
And strangers will stare on at you, aghast.

Don’t Dye Your Hair Black! It’s easy to say,
It isn’t so easy to do;
When you’re seventeen and your dreaming a dream
Of being a bleak ingenue

But don’t dye your hair black! It’s messy and stains
Your furniture, bathroom and clothes
It’s nearly impossible to bleach it out
As many a former-goth knows.

I wish I could send the first one to me in 12th grade/ first year of college. Ugh.
